Rinke Zonneveld (1971) is currently the executive director of InnovationQuarter. InnovationQuarter is the Regional Development Agency for the greater Rotterdam - The Hague region.
InnovationQuarter executes different tasks:
• Capital: We have three investment funds under management with a total of app. 150 million euros. Yearly we are one the most active investors of the Netherlands;
• Foreign Investments: As an investment promotion agency we are responsible for attracting foreign companies to our region;
• Business Development: Our BD department is ao responsible for cluster development, setting up business consortia and open innovation facilities.
• InnovationQuarter is also responsible for the triple helix economic board in the region. Since early 2018 we are responsible for the execution of the Roadmap Next Economy, the long term vision for our region in the fields of smart energy, circulair economy, smart digital, next society and next education.
Previously Rinke was the director of the Entrepreneurship Department within the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Rinke graduated as a development economist at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, worked as an intern for the United Nations in Geneva (Switzerland), followed post doc education at Clingendael (The Netherlands Institute for Foreign Relations) and at Harvard University (John F Kennedy School of Government). In 2013 Rinke was awarded as the best civil servant of The Netherlands.
He serves on several boards. Amongst others he is currently the chairman of the National Association of Science Museums. Besides he is member of the board of Venture Café, the board of the Leiden Bioscience Park, the national Smart Industry Board, the board of SmartPort, the Advisory Board of the Rotterdam Port Fund and the Advisory Board of TNO (the national organization for applied research).
